Welbilt provides immediate and future help to rebuild
after Hurricanes
The southern states of the U.S. have weathered serious storms in the last two weeks, first Hurricane Harvey followed by Irma in our home state of Florida. Many of our partners, colleagues, customers, friends and family have been affected by what some might call a busy hurricane season. Even with the knowledge impending Hurricane Irma Welbilt employees from across the globe committed their own resources to help those in Texas and Louisiana.
While the immediate needs of Harvey victims are being addressed, in part with generous donations of employees and the company donation to the Red Cross, Welbilt wanted to ensure our Gulf neighbors received help in rebuilding well into the future. Many of our employees have already committed to the Welbilt initiative, offering up to one week of paid leave to assist approved volunteer agencies over the next year, to help those affected by Harvey.
Since the commitment to help in the aftermath of Harvey, Irma began to advance on our home state. While the assessment of the damage has just begun, we are once again committing to helping our employees, colleagues, customers, friends and families at home.
Wednesday, September 13, our corporate offices reopened its doors, not just for business, but for our employees, their families and others, whose homes were damaged or are without power. We wanted to provide place where they can receive a great meal, take a break from the heat and cleanup to cool off or simply charge their electronics so they can stay in touch with loved ones. Currently we are working towards an assistance plan to determine where our resources will be most valuable and have the greatest impact in the Irma aftermath and rebuilding process. We remain #FloridaStrong
